In model railroading, "prototype" refers to the real-life railroad that a model railroad layout is based on. Prototype modelers aim to recreate a specific railroad, time period, and geographic area as accurately as possible, including details of locomotives, rolling stock, buildings, and scenery.
In model railroading, "freelance" means creating a model railroad that is entirely fictional, based on the modeler's imagination rather than replicating a real-world railroad. Freelance modelers have complete creative freedom, inventing their own railroads, locations, and even timelines, without adhering to historical accuracy or prototype modeling.
Our Layout is a high percentage frelance. However our Locomotives when replicated were or are part of the real locomotive world. Fr wxample: Our CSX 4683 Is a real Locomotive, here is a brief history of the engine.
CSX 4683 is a specific locomotive, an EMD SD70M, that was part of a lease fleet later purchased by CSX. It's known for operating primarily between Georgia and Florida, and it was one of the few repainted into CSX's "YN2" scheme. The "M" in SD70M indicates it has a wide nose and a North American Safety Cab.
Operations: After being added to the CSX roster, these locomotives were primarily seen operating between Georgia and Florida.
